So, I made this for my girlfriend for her birthday because she really likes mason jars and rustic looking things. It was a pretty simple project and most supplies I used from old projects I've done (i.e. the wood and screws). The projected costed me around $15 for the hardware, paint, and stain.

Step 1: Figuring the Dimension of the Holder.

I believe I used pine for this project but you can use whatever type of wood you have on hand like I did.

I decided to go with three mason jars which came to a 4" by 12" inner dimensions. Depending on which style or size jar you use you'll have to figure these dimensions out for yourself.

I decided I wanted to keep the Ball label showing so the inner height came to 3". But again depending on the jars you use you'll have to measure your own height.

I then put all the pieces together to make sure the jars fit in the holder.

Step 2: Putting It Together

Next, I clamped all the boards together and pre-drilled two holes on each side of the holder for a 1 1/4" deck screws which I had on hand from another project.

Step 3: Staining, Painting, and Drying

First, I start off with a dark walnut stain, staining all the sides and letting dry.

Second, I put on two coats of Rust-Oleum Heirloom White spray, again paint all sides and let dry.

Step 4: Weathering the Wood

To weather the wood I used an electric hand sander and did a couple passes until I was happy with the look of the wood.

I then used hand sand paper to do the edges and other fine sanding to get the final look I wanted.

Step 5: Finishing!

Finally, I put the hardware onto the sides before putting it all together!

I'm sorry I don't have a picture of it actually in use but my girlfriend put some glass stones in each jar till you could see it over the edge of the board and then added candles to each one. You could also use this for plants/flowers or a silverware holder.
