In this instructable I will show you how to make this awesome looking Matcha Marble Raisin Bread. This dessert bread goes great with an after meal tea and contains many health benefits. Yes, desserts can be healthy too :)
- 220g Bread Flour
- 120ml Warm Water
- 80g Dried Raisins (Can be replaced with Chocolate Chips)
- 20g Room Temperature Butter
- 6g Matcha Powder
- 3g Dry Yeast
- 3g Salt
- 1 Egg
- Rolling Pin
- Mixing Bowl
- Saran Wrap
- Dough Cutter
- Bread Pan
- Cooling Rack
- Disposable Gloves (optional)
Step 1: Prep Your Matcha Paste
In a small container, combine 6g of matcha powder with 20ml of warm water. Stir until well mixed and then set aside. (Warning: the paste will NOT look very appetizing ^__^)
Step 2: Prep Your Yeast
In another small container, combine 3g of dry yeast with 30ml of warm water. Stir ingredients and set aside for several minutes. (Yeast "Activate"!)
Step 3: Make the Dough
In your mixing bowl, add 3g of salt, 1 egg, the rest of the water and the activated yeast. Mix until it comes together. Sprinkle some flour onto your working surface then start kneading the dough. (You want to put on some gloves at this point to avoid "dough hand"). Knead until dough forms shape (about 10-12 minutes) and roll it into a ball.
Step 4: Add the Good Stuff (BUTTER!!!!)
Add 20g of butter into the dough ball and knead until butter is evenly spread in the dough. Take your dough cutter and split the dough into 2 pieces.
Step 5: And Then.. There Were Two....
Roll one of the dough pieces into a ball; saran wrap it and set a side (let it rise! let it rise!)
Add the matcha paste to the other dough piece until well mixed. (word of advice: rinse out or wipe down everything matcha powder touches because it will turn your things GREEN. unless you prefer everything green, then leave it)

Set both dough balls aside for about an hour.
Step 6: Punching Time (Ka Pow!)
After waiting the endless hour, now it's time to take it out on the dough balls. Punch all the air out of both pieces of dough and flatten them out. (Don't go easy on them)
Step 7: And Then... There Were Four
Cut each dough piece into halves. Roll them back into balls and saran wrap them again.
Let them rise for 15 minutes. (Tick Tock, Tick Tock)
Step 8: Sprinkle on the Fun (Raisins or Chocolate Chips)
Roll all four pieces of dough balls out flat. Sprinkle raisins or chocolate chips on each piece and stack them on top of each other. Carefully roll it up. Put the roll into your buttered bread pan and saran wrap it. Let it sit for about one hour. (grow, grow, grow!)
(ALMOST THERE!) :)
Step 9: BAKING TIME!
Preheat the oven for 15 minutes at 400°.
After the roll has fully risen, pop it in the oven for 30 minutes on 360°.
Step 10: Ta Da!
Take the bread loaf out of the oven, let it cool.
