The Problem

A spring within the door lock actuator mechanism snaps causing the locking faults.

It is a common fault on these vehicles for a small spring within the door lock actuator to snap causing the symptoms noted. The original spring within the mechanism is very thinly wound and is constructed from a poor quality steel which will inevitably corrode and the spring will snap. Previously this necessitated the complete replacement of the door lock actuator unit at vast expense, the vehicle manufacture has not altered the spring design / construction over the years so even installing a complete new actuator would only be a temporary solution.

Symptoms of the fault

Door lock jumping up and down quickly, door not locking or only periodically, door lock rattles.

Our replacement improved design / material springs allow you to repair the actuator.

Made from high quality Stainless Steel (will not deteriorate over time like springs offered by some others) our improved design thicker wound springs will restore your lock and will not deteriorate over time like the OEM part does, save the cost of a replacement actuator that will just fail again. Produced to the finest tolerances for the perfect fit, thicker wound and reshaped to provide a permanent solution to the locking faults noted above.

Step 1: Fitment of New Spring

  • Grasp the spring with the forceps as shown in the first image.
  • Locate the spring end in to the hole on the underside of the black plastic part as shown in the first image, in the second image you can see where the hole is located on the underside of the black plastic part.
  • Once located on the underside, rotate the spring and force in to the channel shown in the fourth image.
  • Test the function of the actuator.
