Introduction: Microwave Potato

The quickest, easiest way to make a tasty "baked" potato in your microwave.

Step 1: Step 1:

Pick your potato.

Step 2: Step 2:

Rinse the potato nice and good under warm water, scrubbing dirt off with a scrub brush.

Step 3: Step 3:

With a paper towel, blot the potato dry. Pierce ends and around the middle of potato with a sharp fork. (About 5 good stabs.)

Step 4: Step 4:

Using the same old paper towel you used to blot potato dry (cut back on trash and the waste of paper), wrap the potato and pop it in the microwave. Cook it on high power for 3 minutes, 30 seconds.

Step 5: Step 5:

Flip potato over and cook for another 4 minutes. (You may have to adjust your time depending on your microwave and the size of your potato. The best way to get it right is to feel for its tenderness with a fork.)

Step 6: Step 6:

Place your cooked potato on a plate or bowl. Slice it down the middle with a knife, making a sort of "pocket book".

Step 7: Step 7:

Push the ends of your potato inward, mushing the insides so the "pocket book" opens up and out. (This will create a nice "bowl" for you to add ingredients to and eat from.)

Step 8: Step 8: the Final Step

(This step is all based on preference.) Add your butter, salt, pepper... or whatever ingredients you like inside your baked potato and enjoy. Some ideas you can doctor it up with are sour cream, chives, bacon bits, shredded cheese, salsa... the choices are limitless.
