Have you ever wanted to make something fun and tasty, but decide not to because it will take to long to bake? Well this microwaveable Monkey Bread is here to help you make a tasty treat in less than half the time!
Step 1: Gather All Ingredients and Materials Near Preparation Area
One can of biscuits (non-flaky)
One stick of butter or margarine
¼ cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons of light corn syrup
¼ cup chopped pecans
½ a jar of maraschino cherries
⅓ cup of granulated sugar
½ teaspoon of ground cinnamon
One large and wide
One plastic cup
Large Serving Plate
Microwave (1500 watts or less)
Step 2: Add Ingredients
Steps 2 and 3: Making the Biscuit Glaze
In a large bowl, melt 4 tablespoons of butter until liquid in the microwave.After melting butter, add in ¼ cup brown sugar and 2 tablespoons of corn syrup.
Mix until well blended.
Stir in ¼ cup pecans.
Step 3: Prepare Bowl and Add Cherries
Move mixture all the way over to one side of bowl.
Place plastic cup in center, upside down.
After cup is placed in bowl, evenly distribute mixture around the cup.
Place cherries evenly around the cup. Try not to get too much juice on the mixture as you place the cherries.
Step 4: Biscuit Topping
Steps 4 and 5: Making the Biscuit garnish
This step can get a bit messy.
In the small bowl, melt 3 tablespoons of butter until liquid.
After melting butter, add in ⅓ cup of sugar.
Also add ½ teaspoon of cinnamon. (RECOMMENDATION: Don’t add the entire ½ tsp. as it might result in too much cinnamon flavor)
Mix until well blended.
Step 5: Place Biscuits in Bowl
Open can of biscuits carefully.
Take one biscuit at a time from container and garnish with biscuit topping.
Put the garnished biscuit into the large bowl on top of mixture.
Continue to garnish biscuits and place them in the bowl around the cup.
*(CAUTION: Do not let the biscuits over lap one another, as it will cause them to cook improperly)
Step 6: Cook Biscuits
Steps 6 and 7: Cooking the biscuits
After you have garnished and placed all of the biscuits in the large bowl, place the large bowl in the microwave and cook on HIGH for 2 minutes and 30 seconds.
Step 7: Check Monkey Bread
When the time is up, check your biscuits with a toothpick.
Scrape biscuit to make sure it is not doughy.
If the biscuit is still doughy, place in microwave in increments of 30 seconds until biscuits are no longer doughy.
Step 8: Cool Down Monkey Bread
When biscuits are no longer doughy, take bowl out of microwave, and remove cup from center of bowl.
If bowl is hot, please use oven mitts or pot holders.
Allow bowl to cool off before continuing on to next step.
Place serving plate on top of bowl.
Holding both the bowl and the serving plate, flip to where the bowl is now upside down on the serving plate.
Leave for 30 seconds to allow the glaze to drip off of the bowl.
Step 9: Remove Bowl and Enjoy!
Lift bowl off the plate and begin serving and eating!
