Introduction: Minecraft PE Semi-Automatic Farm

After playing Minecraft PE on survival mode for a good amount of time, I got rather annoyed with how much time and effort it took to farm even the simplest things. After all, I wanted to be building things on Minecraft, not having to continuously plant and harvest wheat and other food so we can survive the next zombie or creeper attack. So I decided to switch over to creative mode and try my hand at farm building. This is what I came up with.

Step 1: The Base

First, you will need lots of dirt and a water bucket. Make four sections, all of them squares. I made each one a four by four because that is how far the water reaches when you hoe the dirt. After you have done that, place the water in the center of all of the sections.

Step 2: Make the Perimeter

Now that we've got that done, we need something around the outside to hold the water in. I placed cobblestone all the way around, but feel free to use whatever you want. Then, fill in all the rest of the water channels so the water is steady, or not flowing. An easy way to do this on survival would be to make an infinite water source and then just take water from there.

Step 3: Pillar and Covering the Water

At this point, we don't need the center water anymore, so we can build a pillar going up from the very center. I used cobblestone, but again, feel free to change it. Go four blocks up from the base we made, which means placing five blocks total. Then use slabs and cover up all the water.

Step 4: Till, and Place Ladders and Fences

Now we need to till/hoe the ground. This is pretty easy to do so I won't talk you through it :) Then, place ladders on all four sides of the pillar, and put fences all the way around it. The fences are so no mobs or animals can get in and trample the crops.

Step 5: Make Roof and Locate Waterholes

Now we add the roof, which is what makes this a semi-automatic farm. I used oak slabs, and made it so big as to cover the tilled earth. Then I went on the top and took out four slabs, one for each section. I placed three slabs around each hole to create a place to set the water. It's hard to explain, so make sure to look at the picture if you are confused.

Step 6: Plant and Wait

Now plant whatever crops you have and wait for them to grow.

Step 7: Harvest and Collect

When all the crops are full grown, go up to the top with your water bucket. Go over to one of the holes and place the water in the hole. Wait for a second to let it get all the crops, then pick the water back up and continue with the next hole. When you are done, go down and pick up all your food and seeds.

Step 8: Repeat!

Now, just plant again. You can make this farm as big as you want, however, you will need to add more water in the corners of each section. And, once again, feel free to add to this and change it however you want. Have fun!
