2 forks (one for whisking and one to check if the cake is cooked)
1 butter knife
1 ½ teaspoon
Have access to a microwave

Step 5: Add the Milk, Eggs, and Granulate Sugar
Combine 3 tablespoons of milk, 1 egg, and 3 tablespoons of sugar granulated sugar into the melted butter and whisk with a fork until the egg yolk is no longer lumpy and has been mixed in smoothly with the rest of the ingredients. If any eggshells fall into the batter, remove it with a fork.
Step 6: Add the Flour, Salt, Baking Powder, Cocoa Powder
Add the following dry ingredients into the mug: 4 tablespoons of flour, a pinch of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder and 2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa. Stir until all ingredients are completely mixed without any lumps.
Step 7: Add the Chocolate Chips

Step 8: Add the Water
Add one tablespoon of water to the top of the batter. Do not mix it in. This will help keep your chocolate mug cake soft and moist!

Place the mug in the microwave and microwave for 1 minute and 20 seconds. Let the mug cake rest in the microwave for an additional 1 minute.
Step 10: Is It Done?
To test if your mug cake has been cooked all the way through, remove the mug from the microwave using an oven mitt and insert the prongs of a fork near the edge of the cake (avoid the middle where the chocolate chips are). If the toothpick is clean (i.e. does not have remnants of cake batter on it), then the cake is fully cooked. If you need to microwave the mug cake for more time, cook it for an additional 20 seconds and then repeat the fork test. When completed, your cake should look dry on top.
Step 11: Take It Out
Use the oven mitt to take the mug cake out of the microwave. Place on a heat resistant surface.
