Introduction: Momma Susie's Blackberry Cobbler

This is my grandmother's wonderful blackberry cobbler. It is simple but very tasty. Bake it for you and your family or for your next event, it will be a big hit!

Step 1:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step 2:

Gather all of the ingredients:

  • Self rising flour
  • Sugar
  • Milk
  • Butter
  • Frozen or fresh blackberries
  • Nonstick spray

Step 3:

Gather all of the cooking supplies:

  • 9x9 Baking dish
  • Measuring cup
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Small microwaveable bowl
  • Mixer or whisk
  • Pot holders or oven mitts
  • Spoon
  • Apron

Step 4:

Measure out the ingredients:

  • 1 cup of self rising flour
  • 1 1/3 cup of sugar
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1 stick of butter or 1/2 cup of butter
  • 2 cups of blackberry or to taste

Step 5:

Mix dry ingredients together, flour and sugar. Hold 2 Tbsp of sugar.

Step 6:

Melt butter in the microwave for 2 1/2 minutes then add the milk.

Step 7:

Pour the milk and butter mixture into your mixing bowl and slowly add your dry ingredients with the mixing speed on low.

Step 8:

Spray baking dish with nonstick spray.

Step 9:

Pour cobbler batter into the baking dish and top with blackberries. Do not stir the berries into the cobbler, place them on top of the batter. Take the remaining 2 Tbsp of sugar and sprinkle it on top of the cobbler.

Step 10:

With oven mitts or pot holders, place the cobbler inside of the oven on the bottom rack. Bake for 1 hour.

Step 11:

Watch for bubbling in the center of the cobbler, when this happens the cobbler is done baking. If the cobbler begins to brown before the hour is over, turn the oven temperature down to 325 F and bake until the cobbler is baked all the way through. This could add extra time.

Step 12:

Serve warm or cold and enjoy!
