Step 1: The New and Improved Cat Repellent
If anyone went through my previous invention - it used power from a 3.7 lithium battery and was rechargeable through usb port. The problem was that I could never recharge it on the boat because it requires time to recharge so that got me thinking about using rechargeable AA or AAA batteries instead. The power it provided was not enough to set off the buzzer so I understood I have to boost the batteries from 3V to at least 5 and that's where the 1A 3V to 5V DC-DC Converter Step Up Boost Module came to use. I've also modified the form by using the air freshener sprayer casing that already came with a source of power from 2 AA batteries. with some drilling and reforming the casing - voila (Catzilla)! - a powerful and very noisy cat and i think rodent repellent . It could also be used as an intruder alert system that will keep on giving sound as long as there's motion
Step 2: What Will You Need
1. Air freshener sprayer casing
2. mini toggle switch ON-OFF
3. 1A 3V to 5V DC-DC Converter Step Up Boost Module
4. Piezo Electronic Buzzer Alarm 95DB Continuous Sound Beeper For Arduino
5. Mini IR Infrared Pyroelectric PIR
6. 2 AA or AAA batteries on which the air freshener used to power up from
Step 3: WHAT IS WHAT AND WHERE
After drilling some holes of appropriate sizes both the piezo buzzer and the PIR sensor were glued to the front of the casing whereas the toggle switch was tightened by the nut;) from the side of the casing. the dc booster positive and negative IN holes were soldered to the main power source and jumper wires were soldered at the OUT holes. I found soldering jumper wires to all the electronics and leaving the male pins make it easier to connect to the breadboard
Step 4: WIRING
The image is very clear and displays which wire goes where. The main wire to follow is the +5v - as it exits the dc booster it goes to the toggle switch which will control when the power is to be given to the system. From the toggle switch it leaves and meets up with the VCC of the PIR sensor on the breadboard. The buzzer will draw its power through the SIG wire coming from the PIR which will switch the buzzer's postive wire to HIGH state upon motion during 30 seconds and repeats the same if the motion persists. The GND wire is simple, you connect them all in one place on the breadboard
Step 5: Final Result
A nicely prepared 95 db high pitch cat and rodent repellent or burglar and intruder alarm that can work on easily purchasable and quickly replaceable AA or AAA batteries
