Step 1: Collect Ingredients

1 cup Plain Flour

1 cup Self-Raising Flour

125 g Butter

1/2 cup Caster Sugar

1 Egg, beaten

1/2 tsp Vanilla Essence

2 tbs Milk

Step 2: Make Cookies

Cream together butter and sugar.

Step 3:

Add the egg and vanilla essence.

Mix until completely combined.

Step 4:

Add the flour and mix to form a dough.

Step 5:

Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface.

Knead until smooth.

Step 6:

Roll out the dough to desired thickness (at least 5mm).

Step 7:

Cut out car bodies and wheels from the dough.

I chose to use a paper template for the car body and the wide end of the piping tip for the wheels.

Step 8:

Place the car bodies and wheels onto a tray lined with baking paper.

Step 9:

Reshape the remaining dough into a ball and roll out again, making it twice as thick as last time.

Step 10:

Using a straw, make small cylinders by poking the straw through the dough.

Step 11:

Place the cylinders alongside the car bodies and wheels on the baking tray.

Step 12:

Brush the top of each cookie with the milk.

Step 13:

Place in the oven at 180 degrees Celsius for 10-15 minutes.

Step 14:

While the cookies are still warm, use the straw to make two holes in the bottom of each car body.

Step 15:

Place the cookies onto a wire cooling rack.

Step 16: Assemble Cars

When completely cool, collect the pieces required to form one car.

1 x Car Body

4 x Wheels

2 x Cylinders

Step 17:

To assemble the cars you will need a small portion of icing.

This can be any icing that you wish, as long as it is strong enough to hold the wheels in place.

Step 18:

Place the cylinders through the holes in the car body.

Step 19:

Place a small amount of icing onto one end of the cylinders and push the wheels onto the top.

Step 20:

Flip the car over and repeat the process on the other side.

Allow the icing to dry.

Step 21:

Your Moving Car Cookies are ready to enjoy!
