Hi I'm Maverick12 and I love cuddling blankets. This blanket is a twist on the classic tie blanket. The edges are braided in a sense to create a beautiful edge.

Step 1: Supplies

I'm using two opposing colors of fleece and a good pair of fabric scissors.

The fleece is standard. This blanket is small, with each piece approximately 3/4 of a yard. For larger blankets, simply increase the yardage. For a blanket for two I recommend 1-1/2 yards.

Step 2: Trim Blanket to Size

Lay the two pieces of fabric on top of one another. If you have a printed fabric, ensure that the fabric faces out.

Trim the fabrics so that the edges are matching.

Step 3: Cut Blanket

First, a note - some tutorials recommend using a ruler to lay these out. I'm estimating based on the length of my scissors. If you feel you need to measure I recommend using a yardstick.

To start cut a square the length of the scissors at all corners.

Next, cut large, approximately 1-1/2" wide strips the length of the scissors. Do this all the way around the blanket.

Then fold a strip in half. Cut a slit in the middle of the strip. You'll use this to braid. Be careful, you don't want to cut the strip in half.

Step 4: Braiding the Blanket

In this section I will be referring to the TOP and BOTTOM. For a quick color reference with the photos, my gray piece is on top while by navy piece on the bottom. It is way easier to do this with two different colors.

Take two strips, one TOP and one BOTTOM. Thread the BOTTOM through the TOP's hole.

Next, take the opposite color of the one you are currently holding and thread it through. You should alternate between TOP and BOTTOM threading through. (See why it's easier with two different colors..)

I typically start in the middle of the ones of the sides. This technique continues uninterrupted around corners. The corners pull in slightly and create a nice rounded edge.
