Babka first started in European and Jewish communities, then it eventually spread all the way to america. It is a light and cakey bread and is usually sweet , the original flavor is chocolate.This recipe is Delicious and fun to make.

Step 1: Ingredients
2 cups of flour( you will need some extra for kneading the dough on)
1 pkg(or 2 and a half tsp)of active dry yeast
3/4 cup and a Tbs milk
1/2 cup butter,cut up
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp salt
2/3 cup Nutella( or any other hazelnut spread)
First off, mix the yeast with the flour in a large bowl and set aside.
Then ,in a small sauce pan on low heat, stir the milk, butter , salt and sugar until warm, and the butter is melted. Then add it to the yeast/flour mix, and stir until all the flour is incorporated
Step 3: Knead the Dough
Next knead the dough until smooth and elastic'y, and shape it into a ball, then put it in a lightly greased bowl and cover it, put it in the oven when its off , or just somewhere warm, let it rise for about an hour and a half to two hours, or until its slightly doubled in size.
Now take the dough out of the bowl and set it on a lightly floured counter, put the bowl over it and let it sit for ten minutes.
Roll the dough out into a 16/16 rectangle and spread the Nutella all over it. Then roll it up long ways and cut it in half, then cut both pieces in thirds , like in the picture.
Step 6: Braiding
Now braid the two things of dough, and grease a cookie sheet. Put the two braids on the cookie sheet and cover them,put them somewhere warm, let them rise for another 40/60 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 325 f .Mix the remaining egg and Tbs of milk together, then brush it on both braids and set them in the oven to cook for 45 minutes or until golden brown. enjoy this yummy desert however you want, with whipped cream and strawberry's or bye itself , ether-way ,this desert will impress your whole family!!!!
