Oblivitus' K'nex Ultra Pistol

About: I paint, write music, and used to build knex guns. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Studio Art. - updated 5/7/2014

Description: More powerful, accurate, stable, part efficient, and comfortable than the Super Pistol, this gun has been engineered to death as a single shot and is my most reliable k'nex weapon. The front half of the barrel is now also super light so that it still can be easily aimed and fired with one hand. This instructable was all done with MLCad. I have already made a new upgraded version of this gun with a 6 round hopper but I did make this in physical form before making the computerized version.

Influences: Loosely based on Jollex's DD-27 Pistol.

Length: 13 inches (longest section)
Width: 3 inches (widest section)
Height: 3.5 inches (tallest section)

Max Accuracy: 5 inch target from 10 feet.
Rate Of Fire: Load, cock, and fire.
Ammo: Gray rods.
Max range: 35 feet.

Features: iron sights, true trigger
Flaws: None.

Note: This gun uses 1 cut part, office tape, and duct tape.

What's the best type of rubber-band for this gun?
By the way, It's the best long-barreled pistol i've seen on the web and DEFINITLY the best gun i've ever made.

Well, I made this gun to get revenge on someone, but wow, after finishing it, that would be cruel XD It took awhile, but I finally found a good rubber band that doesn't put stress on the firing rod, but it is still pretty powerful, and best of all, I can cock it back in less than a second. I love style of the gun:Super huge pistol, or shotgun. Love it. Also,I found it fires farther when the bullet is in the middle of the barrel, not pushed all the way back.

I made the barrel slightly shorter, and it actually improves accuracy and power a lot! Though with my new barrel design red rods fly the best, grey rods still work to, and since they slightly stick out the front of the barrel you can aim the gun up and down without worrying about the round to got loaded in falling out.

I chose to make this one over the Beast pistol only because of the one-shot-then-load system I have much luck with in K'nex wars. When I told the 5 friends I shot with it at long range (14 feet to 20 feet and hit them) that I got this off Instructables from a guy called Oblivitus, they logged in, looked at your weapon supply, and stated, quite simply: "We hereby ban any weapons made by Oblivitus from the battlefield for being too powerful." I told them, "It's your fault for not stating the rules before that some guns are too strong." They replied: "We didn't know you were bringing the tank."

I intend to. Or perhaps a version I've been working on for a very long time: single shot, firing similar to the SR-v1 (is that the one with the nail in the knex piece, firing Slingshot style?) complex multi-linkage True Trigger design, and is dependable in how it loads and shoots. Problem is, it's uglier than sin and has a high-length loading time. The bonus, though, is that it spits yellow bolts (more yellow than red w. me) at 250 FPS measured by a chronograph.
