Introduction: PSP Intergrated Lid-stand and MS-storage. (slim&lite)

Disclaimer: Use instructions at own risk!

If you like me, rarely use the UMD drive (for whatever reason) in your PSP, you'd might like to make use of the empty space.

This instructable shows two ideas for the UMD trunk.
It works with the PSP slim&lite, and as I sold my PSP Phat ages ago, I don't know if it will work for that model as well?

First up is a little thing to make the UMD lid an integrated stand.

Step 1: What You Need.

A stick, 3 mm dia.
Ducttape
Scissors
Sandpaper
Ruler
Pen (not pictured)

Step 2: Build.

This is simply made of a stick of whatever material, cut to the length of 38 mm. Round the ends with the sandpaper.
The one I've used is a wooden stick, made for BBQ'ing, with a diameter of aprox. 3 mm.

To prevent it from tumbling around inside the UMD bay, damaging the mechanism, I've added a 50 mm piece of ducttape, 20 mm wide. Place the stick on the middle of the tape, and wrap it around. Trim the edges, to make sure there's nothing sticky.

It goes around the stick, and stick together making it non sticky.
This addition allows the lidstandstick to be stored inside the UMD trunk, being held tight by the metal frame (the piece that lifts up the UMD disk).

Step 3: Usage.

To use the lidstandstick, place it in the corner of the UMD lid, opposite side of the "open cavity" This gives a comfortable tabletop viewing angle. (YMMV)

To store it, place it in the UMD trunk, making sure the ducttape will be under the metal frame when closing the lid.

Downsides:
When using earphones or charging, the plugs are going to cramp it's style.
Also viewing UMD video rips, the need for an actual UMD inside, will be challenging.

Step 4: Memory Stick Storage.

Next up is a Memory Stick pouch made of ducttape for storing a spare Memory Stick in your UMD trunk.
The goal is the same, to get a snippet of nonsticky tape to be held by the metalframe.
Look at the picture for inspiration, and get creative! (I've only got one MS, so I won't be making a new one just for taking crappy cell phone shots of it) ;)

Both can be used at the same time, but I'm sure there will be a limit to how thick a layer of tape, there can be held under the metal frame.

Downsides:
Handling this pouch is a little cumbersome, when trying not to damage the UMD drive mechanism. :(

New ideas, or better designs? Please post in the comments.

Have Fun.
