The goal for this project was to create an illuminated housing for paper-cut art. The lantern consists of two triangular pieces of poplar with routed grooves which allow sheets of acrylic to sit within. The lamp comes apart easily and art can be sandwiched between the acrylic panels. There is an LED bulb in the middle of the bottom triangle. Threaded rods run the height of the lantern and penetrate both panels. Once the art is in place, the top triangle acts like a cap and the whole thing is easily bolted together. The fluid assembly allows the user as much or as little changeability as desired.
