Introduction: Pattern Technique: Ease-Free Sleeves
How to draft sleeves without having to ease the fabric
- To comprehend the fit at the pattern stage by the interaction of
- armhole curves,
- sleeve cap height, and
- biceps line.
- To address the unnecessary action of stretching in the sewing process.
- To preempt puckering, without having to employ the 'ease stitch' step.
- To accurately draft by hand a prototypical trace-and-sew pattern for sleeves.
When the marks are properly traced to the fabric style and cut, just match the sleeves onto the reverse side of the bodice, pinning to the armhole curves with discretion. Sew on the lines carefully, and you're set! :)
