Personalized Tea Bags

If you are bored of square and pyramidal tea bags, it's time to make your own designs!

Personalized tea bags are an original handmade gift to offer or to keep. They allow combining art, relaxation and pleasure in a single little bag.

Step 1: Supplies and Tools

Supplies

• A coffee filter or a tea filter
• A spool of thread, color is up to you
• Cardboard (little rests are great!)
• Your favorite tea
• Imagination

Tools needed

• Sewing machine
• Spoon
• Scissors
• Pencil and rubber

Step 2: Draw Your Pattern

Draw your desired shape on the coffee filter. Make it a little bigger than a regular tea bag. Generally, you can make 2 tea bags with a filter. If you are courageous, you can sew directly your pattern.

Step 3: Cut Your Pattern

Cut the pattern leaving about 0,5 cm (0.2 inches) from the drawing. You can erase the pattern at this moment.

Step 4: Make a Little Label

Cut a shape in a cardboard to make a label for your tea bag.

Step 5: Sew Your Tea Bag

Sew the edges of your drawing leaving one side open. You can make decorations if you sew a single side of the filter. At this moment, you can erase your drawing.

Step 6: Fill the Tea Bag

Fill the tea bag with your favorite tea.

Step 7: Close the Tea Bag

Sew the last side to close the tea bag.

Step 8: Tie the Label

Exceed the border of the filter to make the cord to join the label. Leave about 7 cm (3 inches) of the braided thread. Sew the label to the cord.

Write the name of your chosen tea and a personalized message (if you want... but with a good message, tea improves its taste).

Step 9: Prepare and Drink Your Tea

Boil some water and enjoy your favorite tea ! ;-)
