Phosphorescent Night Light

Introduction: Phosphorescent Night Light

About: I was born in 1961. My profession is Technical Assistant for Metallography. I once worked in a Material Research Center (Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung) in Berlin.

Do you have a windowless bathroom? Then you can test a new phosphorescent nightlight (glow-in-the-dark). Buy an ordinary fiberglass fleece (for car repair or a crack bridging fleece). Take a plastic box (plastic package made of translucent polypropylene). Make a stack from the fleece so that it fits into the box. Secure the cover with adhesive tape. Then take a piece of double sided adhesive tape to mount the finished night light at the wall.

Switch off the light in your bathroom. Close the door and wait until your eyes are adapted to the dark.

What do you think you'll see? I think you will become aware of a faint red glow coming from the wall.

I hope so.
