Hey, I’m Keith at Two Bit Woodworks, and today we’re putting together pipe clamps, check it out!

The first step is to lay out everything that you are going to need

  • ¾ Pipes ( I am using 4-foot pieces
  • ¾ pipe clamps
  • A scraper
  • Latex gloves
  • Mineral spirits
  • Clean rags
  • Paste wax

Step 1: Clean Off the Stickers

I start by removing the bulk of the labels using a small scraper. This can also be done by pre-soaking the labels in an adhesive remover or dishsoap.

Step 2: Remove Any Residue

Once you have all of the labels and tape removed, take a clean cloth and wipe down the pipe with some mineral spirits. Make sure to pay special attention to the areas with any leftover adhesive.

Go over the pipe with a clean rag one last time to make sure it is dry and there is no leftover black residue coming off the pipe.

Step 3: Protect the Pipes

To keep any glue from sticking to the pipe during glue ups, I like to use a few good coats of paste wax.

So, I will take another clean cloth and apply a few coats of paste wax to the pipe and then wipe them clean.

Step 4: Install the Clamps to the Pipe

After applying the paste wax I thread the top piece of the pipe clamp to one side of the black pipe and then slide the bottom piece up from the opposite side of the pipe. The only limitation to these clamps in the length of the pipe that you use.

Step 5: Finish the Assembly

That’s all there is to it. A quick and easy project that will pay off project after project.
