Introduction: Play-it-take-it Card Game
Play-it-take-it is a card game that my family enjoys a lot and shares with other familys as often as possible. It is a simple, mindless, dumb luck card game that takes about 10 minutes of our life away each time we play it.
A standard deck of playing cards that includes 2 jokers.
For 2-3 players you will need 1 just one deck though you can use as many decks as you like.
For 4 or more you will need at least 2 decks.
The goal of this game is to go through all your cards first.

Step 1: Dealing
You start by having the dealer deal 6 cards face down to everyone. DO NOT look at these cards. Next the dealer deals 10 cards face down to every one. You may look at these cards but do not show your cards to anyone else. Choose 6 of your 10 cards and put them face up on the 6 cards that are already face down on the table. The dealer puts the leftover cards in the center of the table. This will be the draw pile. Now you are ready to start playing.
Step 2: Cards
Different Cards do different things. The 2 cards reset the discard pile. The 10 cards kill the discard pile and the cards are removed from play. You can play both these cards on any card even if the card is higher. I am now going to rank the cards from the lowest card to the highest.
3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, Jack, Queen, King, Ace, Joker. I will explain in detail how play goes in the next step.
Step 3: Play
The player to the left of the dealer goes first and play continues to go around clockwise. The first player usually plays their lowest card first though they don't have to. The next player then has 4 options. 1. Match the previous players card 2. Play something higher than previous card 3. Play a 2 card or a 10 card. 4. If they can't do any of those then they have to take the discard pile. After playing a card or cards if you have less than 4 cards in your hand then you have to draw back up to 4 cards from the draw pile. If someone plays a 2 card the discard pile stays in play just the next person can play anything they want that is in their hand. If someone plays a 10 card then the discard pile is killed and it is permanently removed from play. If you have 2 or more of the same card you can play them at the same time as long as it is able to be played. If 4 or more cards of the same value are played consecutively the discard pile is killed and permanently removed from play. Once the draw pile is gone you continue playing until all the cards in your hand are played. Then you play the face up cards. When you get down to your face up cards the same rules still apply accept everyone else can also see your cards. You can still play multiple cards if you have more than 2 of the same value. If you have to draw you will have to get rid of the cards you drew before playing the rest of your face up cards. When you get rid of all your face up cards you will draw one card from the face down cards without looking to see what it is first. Look at it before playing it. If you can play it put it on the discard pile. If not you will have to draw the pile. You will have to play your hand before you can play your face down cards again. The person who plays their last face down card first wins.
Step 4: Tips
Here are some tips about what to do if you get the chance. These tips are not always the best thing to do but they are the best thing to do in most situations. Put your 6 highest cards on top of your 6 face down cards. Whenever you can play your 3 cards. If the discard pile is large play a high card, preferably a joker or a ace to try and get the person next to you to draw the pile. (This strategy is a mean one but I do it a lot.) If you have any suggestions about how to play or questions about the game please leave comments and I will try to answer them.
