Picture it, you need something for the big game or for some party you are having, you don't want a sink full of dirty dishes when your people arrive and you don't have a lot of time. I can help. Tie up your apron and let's get to it.
Step 1: Gather Up What You Will Need
This dish contains three ingredients:
Bulk Pork Sausage
Diced Tomatoes with Chilies.
To make this dish you will need:
A Frying Pan
A Pairing Knife
A Can Opener
Step 2: Hot, Medium, Mild...you Decide
First things first, you need to fry your sausage. It may look innocent enough but this dish carries some heat. A good bit of heat, I chose to go with medium sausage. Medium refers much seasoning is put into the sausage when it is made. In making this dish, I have learned that mild add basically texture to the dish, this is really good if you don't want a little bit of bam.
When I used the HOT seasoned sausage, it honestly made me sweat after a few bites.
I go with medium. It is spciy enough but not TOOOOOO spicy.
Depending on your taste you can choose.
Once you have decided which sausage you are using, cut it open chunk it up into small pieces so it will cook easily.
Set you heat on your stove to medium high and begin frying the sausage.
Step 3: Add a Little Consistency
After the sausage is cooked done, gotta make sure pork is cooked well, it is time to mix it up with the cream cheese. I crumble the cooked sausage to the desired consistency and I cube up the cream cheese. This will make it easier for the solid to break down into it's liquefied for easier. Then just drop it in and keep stirring it. Here is a little footnote, for this dish I don't drain the grease off the sausage. It keeps things from sticking to the pan and all the brands I have tried, there is not enough grease to make it worthwhile. So just make sure you keep stirring and it'll all be good.
Step 4: Now to Add Some Color
Time to open up the chilies. I like things that are easy and all you have to do is open up the can. Easy enough. Pour it into the sausage and cream cheese mixture, turn your heat down on low and let it simmer. Make sure you give it time for the flavors to meld together. Once those flavors have fused, as one person who tried it told me, it taste like breakfast and a Mexican meal combined.
Step 5: Let It Simmer and Serve
Once you have allowed it to simmer for a while you are ready to serve. I like to eat it with the scoop tortilla chips. Just a personal choice there, but they seem to give you the right blend of crunchy, salt and spicy when you use them with this dip. It also makes a pretty dish when served to family, friends or that someone special.
The great thing about it, one pan. Quick and easy, no fuss, no muss. You can refrigerate the leftovers and pop it in the microwave to warm it up again.
