Introduction: Rømmegrøt

Rømmegrøt is a Norwegian porridge/dessert that can be made mainly with cream, flour, sugar, and butter. It's a delicious dish that's enjoyable for the whole family and quite easy to make.

Step 1: Step 1: Ingredient and Tools

When making Rømmegrøt, you need a few, simple ingredients and tools.

Ingredients:

1 quart of half & half or cream

1/2 cup of flour (heaping)

1 stick of butter

1/2 cup of sugar (heaping)

Cinnamon sugar (optional)

Extra Butter (optional)

Tools:

Whisk

2 cooking pots

Spatula

Measuring cups

Large Spoon

Serving Bowls

Ladle

Step 2: Step 2: Butter/Flour Mix

When you first begin making Rømmegrøt, you must have all your ingredients and tools ready. To begin, slowly melt your butter in a pot on low heat. Then, when your butter is completely melted, add your flour and beat thoroughly, until there are no clumps in the mixture.

Step 3: Step 3: Cream Combination

Next, in a separate pot, warm your cream on medium power and stir every so often. When warm, add your butter/flour mixture (called a rue) to the cream. Continue to stir the pot while pouring the rue into the cream.

Step 4: Step 4: Final Mixing Process

Then, when your mixture is completely void of clumps and thoroughly stirred, add your sugar. While you pour, stir the combination. Eventually, you will begin to see your dessert thicken. If this happens, you'll know you've made it correctly.

Step 5: Step 5: Serving

To serve, scoop about two ladles into a bowl (most preferably an ice cream dish). Finally, to top off the dessert, add some melted butter to the top and a thick layer of cinnamon sugar. Enjoy!
