Rice Bag for Jamberry Nails

Introduction: Rice Bag for Jamberry Nails

I used precut 5 inch squares from the quilting section.

Step 1:

Pin fabric right sides together.

Step 2:

Sew around leaving an opening to put the rice in. Back stitch at openings.

Step 3:

Shows the opening.

Step 4:

Use finger to turn right side out pressing the corners out as you go.

Step 5:

Right side out showing the opening.

Step 6:

Use a funnel and fill with 8-9 tablespoons of regular (not instant) white rice. You don't want the bag completely full.

Step 7:

Pin opening shut.

Step 8:

This should give you an idea of how much rice should be in your bag.

Step 9:

I used a zipper foot and sewed mine shut on the outside. Or you can hand see them shut.

Step 10:

Sewn shut.

Step 11:

Finished rice bags. Due to small size only microwave for 20-30 seconds depending on microwave size. And as always use a Baggie between nail and rice bag to keep the moisture away from your nail. I still recommend using the original Jamberry application process but a rice bag can help you get smooth results for certain wraps. Also good on toes and kids.

I stumbled upon the easiest rice bag idea. Walmart had cloth pencil cases on for a dollar. Some were very nice (southwest woven pattern!). I found that a small package of rice just fit inside!. I was worried at first about putting it in the microwave because of the zipper and some grommets but as they were aluminum (and most microwaves are ok with aluminum these days), it worked great and I didn't even have to take the rice out of the plastic... and NO SEWING ! Gets dirty? take the package out and wash the pencil case.

When we made our rice bags, we used baby socks and filled in the rice. When we were done we tied with a ribbon to look like a bow

That is way more my style! I don't have a sewing machine nor do I know how to use one. When I made one for myself (not for my nails) I used a male gym sock and tied the top in a knot after I put the rice in it. I like the baby sock idea! Cute AND easy!!
