Introduction: SCOOTER EXHAUST MOD

Here is my first instructable. After a long time thinking to do, at last i make this mod, but first the situation:

I have a scooter motorcycle, in my country (Guatemala) is really common, but it does not have a great mods. The motorcycle is an Italika CS125 model 2008, as you see, it have an exhaust with aluminium cover (really it dont work for anything, dont dissipate heat, isnt waterproof, dont look good), then i put the cover out and replace with a metal mesh obtained from a used air filter from one truck.

Step 1: TAKE OUT THE EXHAUST

First, take out the exhaust, five screws make the magic. Is simple, take out the clamp with a screw and lug (normally it have two clamps), then, three screws in the bottom, and it is all.

Step 2: RETIRE ALUMINIUM COVER

With a pliers, break the aluminium cover, then, take a little pieces until the complete cover is out (this cover can be recyclated in an aluminium center), as you see, the interior of the exhaust have really too much oxide inside, this piece is made in iron and the heat and water makes a good enviroment to create the amount of oxide. Take out with a drill the aluminium rivets in the round, the holes are ideal to put in some screws.

Step 3: SANDING, SANDING AND SANDING

With a water and sandpaper, take off the oxide, but, if the water makes the oxide, why we are using water? the mix of water and sandpaper makes really easy the work, take the piece and retire the excess of water when you have sanding, then dry and paint with oven paint (black is the best option).

Step 4: THE IRON MESH AND FINISH

Is simple, cut the iron mesh taked from a truck (big truck) air filter, then, with a some screws and the holes of the rivets, put all together, the exhaust, the mesh and secure with the screws, try to allign everything, this is te crucial step, after around 45 minutes, you will have recicled some metal objets and make a really nice exhaust. Greetings.
