Introduction: SPUNNYS - Outer Space Crafts: Alien and Astronaut Doll Painting

Everybody loves outer space crafts! In this tutorial, we are going to create a little scene featuring a very cool looking alien and a his astronaut buddy.

For the doll blanks, we are using Spunnys. Spunnys are little three dimensional shapes that are made of paper that you can purchase at: http://www.spunnys.com. They are great for crafts because paper is a very good and fast drying painting surface. And they are very study.

The optional solar system is drawn on the cap of a paper mushroom. But feel free to use anything else as a support for your solar system: a piece of cardboard, a ball – anything.

Let’s get started…

Step 1: STEP 1

Gather all your materials and make sure to always sketch with a pencil first! For this project we will need:

01. x2 doll blanks
02. x1 mushroom blank (optional)
03. Red, blue & black ink pens
04. A pencil
05. Electrical tape
06. Scissors
07. Green tempera paint
08. A paintbrush
09. Elmer’s Glue or similar

Step 2: STEP 2

Paint one of the blank doll shapes green and let it dry. Tempera paint gives you a flat color, but you can use whatever paint you prefer.

Step 3: STEP 3

Carefully cut out the shapes for the alien eyes and the astronaut helmet.

Step 4: STEP 4

To secure the cutout electrical tape pieces use a little glue and place on to the doll blanks.

Step 5: STEP 5

After outlining the design of the uniform with a pencil, use the color pens to trace over your lines.

Step 6: STEP 6

Repeat this process for the Alien shape and remember to have fun and be creative!
