Introduction: Secret Card Compartment

About: I am a maker. As founder of MakerBlog, I enjoy sharing my creations with others.

After realizing that I rarely play card games, I decided I needed to convert my cards into something else more useful, or at least cooler. Thus, I converted it into a secret compartment. The secret deck of cards has many of the same qualities as a hollow book, but it is smaller, more compact, and less common. Enjoy this instructable, and I hope you like my idea!

Step 1: Materials

Scotch tape
A razor
School glue
A deck of cards

Step 2: Gluing the Cards

Set aside ten cards. Next, take the rest of the cards and square them. Run tape along one side of the deck, as shown. Rub glue on the other three sides with your finger. Wait for it to dry, remove the tape, and glue the remaining side. Wash your hands. Set something heavy on the deck of cards, and wait for it to dry completely.

Step 3: Cutting Out the Deck

Draw a square the size of your desired compartment. Cut out this square using a razor. Stop cutting when you think you are about to cut through the deck. You may want to cut this out on a piece of scrap wood, just in case. This is a tedious process, but the result is worth it!

Step 4: Finishing Up

Glue the inside of the compartment, and let it dry. Place something "valuable" in your compartment, and replace the ten cards over the opening. Replace the deck in its box, and store safely in a drawer, shelf, etc. Enjoy your secret deck of cards, and please comment on possible improvements below! Thanks!
