Introduction: Silhouetted Shadow Lamp

Greetings!!!! How nice of you to stumble upon my project......... Anyway lets cut to the chase, today I will be showing you how to build your very own Silhouetted Shadow lamp (or nightlight) with theses very easy, simple steps

What you will need:

•Cardboard (even a cereal box)

•tracing paper

•a picture of a silhouette (must fit the shape of your box) or you can draw it on a piece of paper and then cut it out

•Paint & paintbrushes (of your choice)

•scissors/ craft knife, super strong glue, ruler, pencil and/or an extra paper

•a small light such as a finger torch or LED (a candle is highly not recommended)

Building time:

• 30min-1 hour (well it all depends on how fast the paint dries or how fast you make it)

Lets begin.....................

Step 1: Step 1: Preparation

First of all, you have to draw a box to your liking, my box was 7 by 7.7cm long. Once you have drawn your box, draw another square as the same measurements as your box, but this time with a slightly smaller square in the center of it

Step 2: Step 2: Cut and Paint Away!!

Once you have finished drawing your box, cut it out and start painting it in your desired color, make sure to paint both sides of your box. I painted mine black so that when the light is turned on, the box would not reflect any of the light, giving off its magical effect

Step 3: Step 3: the Silhouette

For this step, you need your silhouetted picture, your spare painted square and your tracing paper. First, cut out any white pieces on your picture and paste it flat facing down on your tracing paper. Wait for the glue to dry before pasting it on your spare painted square, once the glue has dried after pasting it on to your spare piece you can move on to the next step

Step 4: Step 4: Building the Puzzle

Ok, so you have made it this far...... Now for the time-consuming part. Fold up all the pieces and glue them together leaving one flap free (this is where you can open and close the hatch to gain access to the torch), glue the silhouetted frame to the rest of the box, still leaving that one flap free.Let the glue dry.

Step 5: Step 5:Let the Magic Shine

At first, it might not look like much, but light up the torch inside of your lamp and turn off your lights. This is where the real magic begins!!!!

I hope you had fun building your very own lamp, be free to explore with different silhouettes and shaped boxes!
