Introduction: Simple Improvised Oil Lamp, Burns Up to 2 Hours!

About: I am a student in the Netherlands who likes to build cheap things.

For making the lamp, you need:


-Sunflower oil
-Aluminium foil
-A plastic cup
-A cotton shoe lace
-Scissors
-Adhesive tape (not at the picture)

Step 1: What Do You Need?


-Sunflower oil
-Aluminium foil
-A plastic cup
-A cotton shoe lace
-Scissors
-Adhesive tape (not at the picture)

Step 2: Step 1 Cut the Cup

Cut the cup with the scissors at 2 cm height. 

Step 3: Step 2 Cut and Fold the Aluminium Foil

-Cut 8 CM of the foil.
-Next fold it to the left side.
-Now put the cup on the foil.
-Fold the foil around the cup and tape it.
-Remove the cup so you got 2 seperate pieces.

Step 4: Step 3 Cut a Hole

Make a small hole in the foil at the marked spot.

Step 5: Step 4 Cut the Lace

-Cut 4 cm of the shoe lace.

Step 6: Step 4 Add Fuel in the Cup

-Fill the cup for 2/3 with the oil.

Step 7: Step 6 Put the Parts Together

-Take the aluminium foil box and the cup with oil.
-Put the cup in the aluminium foil, make sure you don't spill oil!
-Now put the shoe lace in the hole and wait 1-5 minutes.
-And finaly, light it and enjoy!
