Introduction: Smartframe
This is our project the "smartframe" (Android only).
With this frame you can send friends/ family a quick message with 1 button press. Download the smarframe app, the telegram app, setup your circuit and you are ready to go!
Concept:
The smarframe is a photoframe with 4 buttons. You can add 1 or more people to a frame (with the app) and thereafter, when you press 1 of the buttons, a message wil be send to those people. There are 4 messages that you can change (with the app). Button 1 will send message 1, button 2 will send message 2, etc.
How to add a friend to a frame? Your friend(s) need to download the Telegram chat app, and ask their unique chat id. This id is like a phone number for sending messages but then instead for the telegram bot to communicate. (more info further).
Its possible that the database from the app will be offline, then it wont work.
Step 1: Necessities
What do you need to make the Smartframe?
- Raspberry Pi 3
- Passive Buzzer
- 5 220 ohm resistors
- Led
- Breadboard
- 4 buttons
- (Photo frame Box)
Step 2: Create Electronic Scheme
Build this scheme on breadboard (be sure your RBPI is turned off while doing this).
Step 3: Download the Smarframe App on Your Android Phone
Download the .apk file on your Android smartphone.

Step 4: Setup Raspberry Pi
If you are a noob:
Login to your raspberry pi using SSH and create a new directory somewhere. In this directory clone the following github repository: https://github.com/brysbaertmaarten/Smartframe.git
Then run the Start.py script and you are ready to go.
