Introduction: Smoked Salmon and Mushroom Lasagne

This is a great dish for entertaining? It is easy but elegant and makes a small quantity of  smoked salmon go along away!

Step 1: Ingredients

This amount is for 4 servings:

3 tablespoons  butter
3 tablespoons flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
black pepper to taste
1/4 teaspoon  grated nutmeg
2 1/2 cups milk
2 cups grated cheese
200 gr button mushrooms
150-200 g smoked salmon
100-200 g fresh lasagne ( or150 g dried)
Paprika powder
Little bit oil

Step 2: Sauce

Melt the butter in a large pot.Add the flour  and stir  to form a thick paste . Continue to cook, stirring frequently for 1 or 2 minutes. Add Salt Pepper  and nutmeg.Stir, then  add about a third of the milk. whisk Or  stir vigorously  until   the mixture thickens  and boils ensuring that there are  no lumps. Cook for few minutes , stirring frequently.Add another  third of the milk, and stir until boiling. Add  the remaining  milk  ,and bring to  boil again.
Remove the sauce from the heat and stir in about  three  quarters of the grated cheese.

Step 3: Shallow Fry

Even though the recipe says to arrange the sliced mushrooms, I was not too happy about it. So I sliced and  shallow fried the mushrooms .

Step 4: Layers

Lightly butter a shallow lasagne dish. Spread half of the mushrooms and spread the  smoked salmon over the mushroom.Cover this with a third of  the sauce.then arrange the lasagne sheets  over.

Step 5: Repeat

Repeat the layers once more in order ,the sauce being on top.

Step 6: Sprinkle

Sprinkle the rest of the cheese on top and dust a little bit of paprika powder over it.

Step 7: Bake

Cover loosely  with foil and bake for 30 minutes at 175 C , then uncover and bake for  further 15 - 20 minutes. Until the top is golden brown.

Step 8: Enjoy

Hmmm....Serve warm with tomatoe salad and crusty bread.
