Introduction: S'more Brownies

S'mores are awesome! Delicious gooey marshmallows, smashed between two tasty graham crackers with a slab of chocolate! What's not to love! I've been wanting to make a bar version of them for a while, and finally decided how I wanted to do it. It is really the ooey gooey, delicious, melted marshmallow that makes it awesome!

Step 1: Ingredients

Ingredients:
  • Brownie Mix (store bought or homemade) + any ingredients needed here (eggs, oil, etc)
  • Graham Crackers
  • Butter
  • Sugar
  • Marshmallows
  • Chocolate Chips

Broken up by Layer:
  • Layer 1
    • 1 Sleeve of Graham Crackers
    • 6 Tbs Melted Butter
    • 1/2 Cup Sugar
  • Layer 2
    • Brownie Mix (store bought or homemade)
  • Layer 3
    • Overflowing 2 cups of Marshmallows
  • Layer 4
    • Handful of Marshmallows
    • Handful of Chocolate Chips
    • Handful of Graham Cracker Crumbs

Suggested Supplies:

Step 2: Crust

Update:  As Boygasmo pointed out and I didn't really think about, this crust isn't very thick, if you want a ticker crust, double this recipe.

For the base of my dessert, I just used a Graham Cracker Crust.

  • 1 Sleeve of Graham Crackers
  • 6 Tbs Melted Butter
  • 1/2 Cup Sugar

Mix together your ingredients and spread it on the bottom of your pan. I used a piece of wax paper to smash it down flat.

Bake at 350 degrees for about 12 minutes.

Step 3: Brownie

As your crust is baking, mix up your brownie batter.

Once your crust is baked, adjust your oven temp if you need to and pour the brownie batter on top of the crust. Bake according to your brownie mix and make sure to check on it.

Once it is done, turn the oven on broil and move to the next step.

Step 4: Marshmallow Topping

Marshmallow time!

I wanted this little treat to stand out. So I took an overflowing 2 cups of marshmallows and melted them on half power in the microwave until they looked all melty without overflowing and making a mess.

Carefully spread this on your brownies. If you are doing this when they are fresh baked, you will need to be careful. I tried to glob and carefully spread it. Don't tear it apart! It doesn't have to be perfect, just cover what you can.  Melt more marhsmallows if you need to.

Now you can move on or go right to broil!

Step 5: That Little Something Extra...

You have to take it that extra step towards awesome.

  • Handful of Marshmallows
  • Handful of Chocolate Chips
  • Handful of Graham Cracker Crumbs

Take your extra marshmallows, chocolate chips, and some extra smashed graham crackers and sprinkle those over the marshmallow layer you just put on.

Once it is ready, stick it in the oven that is on broil. Keep an eye on it! Go until they get brown on top. I think it took me maybe a minute and a half, so don't you dare walk away from it or you'll have a mess on your hands!

Step 6: Serve It Up!

Here are a few more of the 100+ pictures I took of my finished bars :P

Made them today. To bad I don't have a broiler option but it came out great. I also did not have the right size pan so I used what I had.

Yay you made them! You just gotta make it work for you :) I think you can just crank the oven up all the way too to broil it. All you really want to do is toast the marshmallows if you can :) Did you enjoy them!!!

Looks awesome! You can always double the crust recipe too for a thicker crust. I think mine wasn't very thick either, but I was all about the brownie and marshmallow!

Its a girl thing I guess. I wanted more cinnamon taste to it but it just tasted like thick brownie with marshmellow. Maybe we could add a bit more powder cinnamon to it? Thats an idea we could entertain. ^_^
