This recipe shows you how to make a s'mores funnel cake, although this recipe is very flexible. You can easily make enough for any size group and the variety of toppings mean you could eat it with many different flavors.

Step 1: Gather the Ingredients and Utensils

You will need the following...

Ingredients

  • 3 cups Flour
  • ¼ cup Sugar
  • 2 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups milk
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 liter cooking oil (canola or vegetable)
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Utensils

  • A mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups/spoons
  • A whisk
  • A squeeze bottle
  • Funnel (optional)
  • A Frying pan

Step 2: Prepare the Stove

Pour the vegetable or canola oil into a medium-sized frying pan or skillet, until the oil is 1 inch deep. The exact depth of the oil does not matter at all. As long as the batter will not be touching the bottom of the pan or skillet, or else it will burn. Turn the burner on to a medium heat, and let it heat up for the next 15 minutes while you mix up the batter.

Tip: Test the oil by dropping a small amount of batter in to see how quickly it cooks. DO NOT touch the oil to see how hot it is.

Step 3: Mix Your Dry Ingredients Together

In a large bowl, combine your dry ingredients first.

This includes;

  • 3 cups Flour
  • ¼ cup Sugar
  • 2 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Then mixed them together.

Step 4: Adding Your Wet Ingredients

Now add the wet ingredients which consists of

  • 2 cups of milk
  • 3 eggs

pour the milk and eggs into the dry ingredients. Stir or whisk until fully incorporated.

Step 5: Pour Your Batter Into a Different Container

Pour batter into a squeeze bottle. Replacements for a squeeze bottle include a plastic bag or a old condiment bottle but make sure it is thoroughly cleaned.

Plastic Bag Method: Spoon enough of the finished batter into a plastic bag to still be able to close it tightly. After securing the bag use scissors to snip the corner off to create a funnel.

Step 6: Frying Your Batter

Slowly squeeze the batter out of the funnel into the hot oil be careful not to splash the oil. Fry for 30 seconds on each side until golden brown. Keep an eye on your funnel cake to ensure both sides are evenly cooked.

When finished remove your funnel cake from the pan and drain it over paper towel.

Step 7: Add Your Toppings

In an oven safe pan, layer your funnel cake , marshmallows, and chocolate chips. Place it into an oven and broil for 2-3 minutes (times may vary based on oven). When finished, take it out of the oven carefully. Then serve and enjoy.
