Solder Using SMD Stencil!

About: Hi, I'm Nemeen, Electronics Enthusiast! I have seen a huge decline in electronics hobbyist in past few years. I started this channel in order to inspire you to create. Hopefully, you will find something tha...

In my Previous tutorials, I have shown you have to How to Solder THT & How to Solder SMD Components. which is a pretty straightforward method and works fine if you want to solder only one board, but let's say you want to solder dozens of the board then it can be a very tedious and time-consuming method. That is where an SMT Stencil can be a life savior and save you a lot of time. so in this tutorial, I will show you how to solder SMD components using SMD Stencil!

So let's begin!

Step 1: Watch the Video!

If you do not want to read all the stuff you can watch my video tutorial!

Step 2: Everything We Need!

Parts

1) SMD/SMT Stencil - You can order SMD stencil from any manufacturer I went with www.jlcpcb.com because they were the cheapest option available

2) PCB which you are working with.

2) Spacers - These are required for holding PCB in place

3) Clean and Flat surface

Tools

1) Hot air Station - Gearbest / Banggood

2) Solder Flux - Gearbest / Banggood

3) Solder Paste - Gearbest / Banggood

Step 3: Setting Up Jig

First, take your PCB and measure its thickness mine is about 1.6mm. Now we need something like a spacer so we can make a jig. I used PCB from a Previous project. Now place the space around the working PCB to make a jig.

Do it only for 3 sides so we can slide our PCB in and out easily. now tape down the jig so it won't move.

Step 4: Setting Stencil Down!

Once we have jig set now we can set up our stencil,

First, place the stencil over PCB and align it properly. Now tape down the one end of PCB such that we can open and close the Stencil and jig like a book.

Now we are ready to solder.

Step 5: Apply Paste & Soldering!

Now we will apply the solder paste using a syringe. Apply on one side as shown then use something like a card (I used an failed 3D print). Now evenly spread the solder paste using card. one done you can see a small layer of solder paste on PCB.

Now all you have to do is just place all the components in its place and head the PCB using Oven or a Hot air station and you are done!

Step 6: Thank You!

That's it for this tutorial If you like my work
