Introduction: Sour Patch Grapes - the Healthier Alternative

Throughout this Instructable I will be showing you how easy it is to make your own healthy sour patch kids using green grapes. Please vote for me in the "Sweet Treats" contest!! Like this recipe? Check out my healthy recipe community.

Step 1: Ingredients

  • Jello
  • Green Grapes
  • Water

Step 2: Mise En Place

  1. Get all of your ingredients prepped and ready.
  2. Have separate bowls with each color jello.
  3. Fill a bowl with water.

Step 3: Coating the Grapes

  1. Submerge 5 or so at a time in water.
  2. Poke the grapes with a toothpick through the end of the grape where the stem originally was.
  3. Roll and toss the wet grape in the jello mix making sure it's fully coated.
  4. Set aside on a tray or paper plate.

Step 4: Refrigerate

  • Set your sour patch grapes in the refrigerator for an hour.
  • Enjoy!

    If you don't want to use jello (because it is made from animal products you don't want to know about), agar-agar is a great substitute. You can use natural flavorings for the agar-agar.

    If you want it to be a bit more sour add a little powdered citric acid to the mix. You can adjust until you get it as sour as you like.

    I tried clementine wedges and it did't come out too well. I'm thinking green apples? They are a bit more sour!!

    If you want to make these sour like sourpatch kids - order a bag of citric acid on Amazon. That's what I use when making homemade sour gummy worms. A little goes a long way - so try adding a teaspoon to the jello mix at a time until you get the taste you like. I like mine super-sour like warheads.
