This easy Short Rib Dinner is so quick to prepare you can make it, place it in the Crock Pot and off you go.
Fall off the bone short ribs with a chipotle, smoked paprika sauce that everyone will love.
When you get home you are greeted with a hearty meal and you can make it any day of the week.
Step 1: Searing
I like to use cast iron skillet, but you can use what ever you have available.
Preheat the pan on med high heat.
Add 2 tbsp vegetable oil.
Sear 4 lbs of meat on all sides.
Place seared pieces into a crock pot/slow cooker.
Step 2: Deglazing Pan
Pour 1 cup of your fave red wine into the pan. White wine can be substituted if red is not available.
Turn up the heat and scrape off the tasty bits off the pan.
Bring to a rolling boil for 1-2 min.
Pour over ribs.
Step 3: Seasoning
Add to slow cooker;
1 tsp each salt, pepper, chili powder, chipotle powder, smoked paprika, oregano, thyme
(salt can be adjusted to your taste)
1 1/2 cup your favourite BBQ sauce
1/2 tsp hot sauce or chili flakes or to taste
1/2 cup water
Toss using tongs.
Place lid on.
This is where you can decide how long you want these ribs to cook.
I like to turn the dial to low and cook for 6-8hrs. Longer if you are off to work!
Turn once half way through cooking if you are home.
*I have made these in as little as 4hrs but, they are not as tender but delish all the same.
*Suggested serving is with brown rice and green beans.
