Step 1: Ingredients
1 1/2 Cups of heavy whipping cream
1 1/4 Cups of powdered sugar
1 tsp. Vanilla extract
1 tbsp. Cocoa powder
Purple, pink, and teal gel food colorings
#20 Piping tip
Step 2: Making the Icing
While your cupcakes are baking, mix together the heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, cocoa powder, and vanilla extract in a stand mixer (you can also use a hand mixer) until desired consistency. Separate the frosting into 5 bowls (or jars in my case) and dye them each a different color; I made, pink, lavender, purple, teal, and hot pink. Chill for 5 to 10 minutes.
Step 3: Putting the Icing in the Bag
After chilling the frosting, put each color of icing in individual bags and cut the tips off. Then put your #20 decorating tip in another icing bag and pipe one strip of each color into the bag with the #20 tip. Close it up, and you are ready to ice!
Step 4: Icing and Decorating the Cupcakes
Ice the cupcakes as you would normally, doing a upwards swirling motion and then letting go at the top. Add some silver sprinkles to imitate sparkling stars to complete the galaxy look.
