Step by Step Stitch Markers

Introduction: Step by Step Stitch Markers

About: I'm a rainy day loving, tea drinking kind of girl. I’m a crafter, writer, and maker of pretty things. I also have a constant love affair going on with the ’80s!

Ever wonder how to make those cool crochet / knitting stitch markers? I am here to show you with a quick and fun tutorial.

My simple yet retro stitch markers show a little love to one of the biggest boy bands of all time, the New Kids on the Block, and their new fall tour.

Step 1: Materials and Tools

Here are the materials and tools you will need for this project:

round-nose pliers
needle-nose pliers
wire cutter
round plastic alphabet beads
assorted colored beads
head pins or eye pins

Step 2: Step 1 - "We Can Have Lots of Fun"

Choose the beads you want to use.

Step 3: Step 2 - "There's So Much We Can Do"

Place the beads in order on the head pin and cut off any excess wire, leaving about an inch from the top of the bead.

Step 4: Step 3 - "It's Just You and Me"

Hold the head pin in the round-nose pliers with one hand.

Step 5: Step 3 - "It's Just You and Me" Continued

Using the other hand, take the needle-nose pliers and bend the wire to form a small loop.

Step 6: Step 4 - "I Can Give You More"

Hook the small loop onto the S-hook and tighten the the loop by squeezing it shut with the round-nose pliers.

Step 7: Step 5 - "Don't You Know That the Time Has Arrived"

Ta Da! You now have your very own stitch marker.

Extra Step: If you would like to attach a heart or charm: place the heart/charm on a head pin, bend the wire to form a loop, hook the head pin to the loop end of the eye pin, and squeeze shut.

Now go on and make a whole "funky bunch" for yourself and your crocheter/knitter friends. I know that's Marky Mark but he's a sibling extension of the group, so I couldn't resist.

I was thinking of how many stitch marker tutorials there are out there and tried to pick something different. I figured no one could have possibly done a New Kids one :)
