Introduction: Study Table From Corrugated Sheets

Corrugated sheets are light weight, low cost, recyclable material which is mostly used as packaging boxes.

but nowadays it is used to make furnitures, crafts many more.and you all know this.

So lets make a simple corrugated sheet table.

it costed me just less than 1000rupees..isn't it low cost

I had a wonderful experience while doing this,measuring accurately,minimizing errors,creative methods...........

I ave just used wood adhesive while making this because screws and nails could weaken its strength.

sorry for a thing that I am not having sufficient pics of this instructable but i will show it with sketches. so please don't mind..

Step 1: REQUIREMENTS

  • It needs a lot of corrugated sheets. I used about 16-17 sheets of 2*3 feet, in which i got some sheets from waste boxes.and some sheets I bought from a local manufacturer.
  • Cardboard paper (for finishing)
  • Wood adhesive o carpenters glue
  • Cutters, some tools
  • An iron box ,etc..

Step 2: CHOOSING THE THICKNESS

Thickness and strength matters here. so choose thickness wisely.

i have used 5 layered[about 6mm]thick sheets and boxes.

Step 3: MAKE YOUR DESIGN

Making the design depends on your creativity, ideas, your needs

while making design make sure that your base(pillars)supports the upper platform, keeping this in mind you can make you own design.

And take measurements accurately. think for a while, imagine your design calculate and note in a book

I have designed to fix 2 ac sockets and input for table lamp

I divided the design into 3 parts

  • the upper platform
  • the side shelf
  • the side wall

you can make it seperately and then fix it

Step 4: LETS MAKE ALL THE PARTS

  1. THE SIDE WALL.

It is the easiest part so lets do it first.

  • while making vertical parts(side wall and shelf) be sure that the corrugations are alligned top to bottom.

[that's the science behind the strength of corrugated sheets]

according to your design mark it, cut it.

  • I have made 5layered*6sheeted side wall[about 3.5cm thick]

Step 5: CUTTING

Cutting is one of the important step, you have to cut it accurately to minimizing future errors

you can use any machines, tools, cutters, etc to cut it

Step 6: JOINING THE PIECES

Wood adhesive is best for this.but for this you have to dilute it or else you need kg's of glue..

apply the glue with a paint brush and gently join the pieces

after joining keep weights over it such that pieces join tightly.

Step 7: FINISHING

When glue is dried its time to finish this part.

let's finish it by covering it with sheet.

first cut the piece of required dimensions, about some inches extra.

Then prepare the adhesive apply over a small part[about half a feet area]and quickly And quickly iron over the sheet with mid temperature.

  • And very quickly iron over the sheet with mid temperature

it should be done quickly before drying of glue to prevent appearance air bubbles

Step 8: THE SHELF PART

From the design i made three shelved shelf

  • one open shelf
  • one with sliding doors
  • one sliding side drawer

DO THE SAME PROCESS WITH THIS

  • CUTTING
  • JOINING THE PARTS
  • COVERING WITH SHEET
  • QUICK IRON

Step 9: THE SLIDING DOOR

Let's make sliding door for a shelf

  • Take about 10-12 strips of 3cm width of corrugated sheet.
  • length depends on your shelf's length
  • take cardboard sheet, and glue all the strips on it leaving a small space between each strip
  • make tracks for your door at front of shelf

make sure that the door don't go off tracks while opening and closing.

Step 10: THE UPPER PLATFORM

It should be done very carefully for giving strength to furniture as most of load applies here.

take 2 sheets of required length join them. it would be the base of platform

make small compartments as shown.

i have made a drawer here also at center

Then take 2 more sheets glue it over the platform

  • FINISH IT BY COVERING SHEET
  • IRON OVER IT

Step 11: JOIN ALL THE PARTS

As all the parts are finished,it's time to join them.

  • First set all the parts correctly glue them
  • after fixing attach some screws to give more strength

But don't use more screws

Step 12: FIND a BEST PLACE !

Off!!!! Finally finished it. now find a best place to keep it AND STUDY MORE!!!

I hope you got all the steps correctly, due to some reasons am not having the pics of making this project

so if you have quiries please ask me......and please comment on this.
