Introduction: TIC-TAC-TOE GAME BUILD FROM PAPER MACHE

About: CRAFTSMAN

Hi guys,
Summer started in many countries, kids don't want to go outside, making them busy inside(home) is a challenging one.
To make them busy, I make this board game by using paper mache.
I think, no need to intro to a tic-tac-toe game, because of it's already familiar to everyone.
So, we can go to making process directly.

Supplies

>>> Basic craft materials (sharp knife, marker, pencil, scale).
>>> 70gsm papers.
>>> Cardboards.
>>> colour paints&Brushes.
>>> Foam cutter.

Step 1: TIC-TAC-TOE: GAME OVERVIEW

Tic-tac-toe (or) naughts & crosses (or) Xs and Os (or) XO game is a paper and pencil for two players.
X and O, who take turns making the spaces in 3*3 grid.
The player who succeeds in placing three of their marks in a horizontal, vertical or diagonal is the winner.

Step 2: TEMPLATE MAKING: CROSSES

Doing templates to crosses, nought is make our DIY process easier.
Use160 gsm papers to template making.
Draw and cut the cross template as dimensions given above.

Step 3: TEMPLATE MAKING: NOUGHTS

Step 4: BOARD MAKING

Template not required to board because of it is just square size so that we can directly draw board as given dimensions on DIE material (thermocol) and cut it.

Step 5: TRACE AND CUT PARTS ON THERMOCOL (DIE)

Trace crosses and noughts by using a template on thermocol also cut it by using a foam cutter.
This may act as DIE to make crosses, noughts and boards.
Totally 5 crosses and 5 noughts required to play this game.

Step 6: CARDBOARD BASE

.............Place these DIE’s on cardboard,
Because of cardboard sucks water in paper mache and allows Moulds to dry.

Step 7: WHITE GLUE PREPARATION

Here, maida flour acts as white glue and helps as bonding substance,
...... First, take 300g of maida flour in a bowl and add little water and mix well.
...... And then boil these in medium flame with continuous stirring, then it becomes in glue state and switch off the flame.
....... Cool this glue in 30 mins and then use it.

Step 8: PAPER MACHE PREPARATION

To smooth use 70gsm papers(notebook papers).

PROCEDURE:-
------1, Tear notebook papers by hand(don't cut it ) into small pieces.
------2, Soak this torn notebook papers in hot water for about 3 hours.
------3, Grind it as soft by using a mixer grinder.
------4, Squeeze out excess water from the grinded paper.
------5, Add white glue(already prepared) in the grinded paper.
------6, Mix well both.
------7, Paper mache is ready to use.

Step 9: MOULD MAKING

Then fill up the paper mache in thermocol DIE’s.
For better stiffness on board, use 30*30cm cardboard in between paper mache layers.

Step 10: LET MOULD TO DRY

Leave this mould with DIE in direct sunlight into 3 days and let it dry.

Step 11: SEPARATE DIE&MOULD

After 3 days of separate mould from DIE, separation is no longer too hard because of DIE material is a thermocol.
It can be easily separated.

Step 12: CHIPS OUT

Then remove the excess paper(chips)by using a sharp knife.

Step 13: ROUGH SANDPAPER WORK

Use 80 grit sandpaper to roughly grind crosses, noughts and board.

Step 14: FINE SANDPAPER WORK

Use 150 grit sandpaper to do fine work.

Step 15: CHAMFERING

Chamfering in Sharp edges is reduce hurting kids hand during play.

Step 16: BOARD - SUPPORTS (STAND)

Use paper blocks(also made from paper mache like above)in 3.5cm long and stick boards under surface by using glue.
Do this, the board can be easily pick up from the floor.

Step 17: COLOURING - CROSSES&NOUGHTS

Use different colour format while colouring crosses and noughts.
.....use Red, pink colours to colour crosses.
......use light green, grass green colours to colour noughts.

Step 18: COLOURING & MARKING - BOARD

Use black colour to the board and also make a white line marking in 10cm each.
Use pink colour to supports.
