Tee Shirt Scarf DIY

Introduction: Tee Shirt Scarf DIY

This is my first Instructable, so please don't patronize me! :-)

Use an old shirt that has no other purpose.
I was going to throw this old shirt away, but I decided to put it to better use!

Step 1: You Will Need...

1 tee shirt (preferably a large or XL)
1 pair of scissors
1 ruler (Optional, not pictured)

Step 2: To Begin...

Start by cutting the hem off the bottom on the tee shirt.

Step 3: Cut It...

Begin cutting the rest of tee up into long strips horizontally along the width of the tee. You can measure your strips anywhere from 1/2in to 1 1/2in for best results. I could not find a ruler so i just decided to wing it;)

Step 4: Finish Cutting...

Cut as many strips as possible from your measurements until you hit the sleeve. I ended up with 9 strands!

Step 5: Stretch It...

Start by stretching all the strands at once. Then grab 4-5 strands and stretch those out. Try to get them to be the same length.

Step 6: More Cut It...

Cut off the sleeve. Then, cut off a strip about 2in thick.

Step 7: Wrap It...

Wrap the strip over the strands as pictured. Then, continue wrapping the 2 strip ends around the strands.

Step 8: Knot It...

Knot the end of the strands together then hide the knot under the folds from the strand.

Ta - Daa!  You have completed your scarf

The End!

I ended up making a smaller one out of the sleeve and the rest of the shirt! That minimized the waste! :)
