Introduction: The Live-strong Watch Strap Replacement

About: Carnegie Mellon Design + HCI

Ever need a wrist watch replacement but didn't  want to spend fifteen dollars on a new one at the mall? heres a simple replacement that you can do in just several minutes with your favorite rubber wrist bracelet. Not only is this cheap and simple to make but you also have options to personalize your watch.

Step 1: Step 1: !Ingredients!

The only things you will need are:

A watch without a wrist strap (one with removable pins)
And a gum-band of your choice (all i had was a live-strong lying around, But go ahead and get creative)

Optionally a set of pliers to take out pins.

Step 2: Step 2 Remove the Pins (don't Lose Them)

This step should be simple if you have done this before.
If you haven't,
either insert finger nail at the end of the pin and pull out or pull it out with pliers

Use the images as a guide.

Step 3: Step 3: Prepping Live-Strong Band

For this step all you have to do is take your everyday silicon wrist band and turn it inside out... also self explanatory and place on watch with words opposite to dial.

Use photos as a guide when placing band on watch.

Step 4: Step 4: Putting Pins Back in Place

All you have to do now is replace pins by slowly inching them back into place... This can be frustrating so try starting out with the pin already in one slot and then moving it into place into the other. Your final results should look like the pictures below.

Step 5:

Now your done go out and show it off your shore to get ooos and ahhh where ever you go. If it breaks no big deal buy another bracelet for a buck, and after viewing this instructable you should be a pro at this. Thanks for following this fairly simple instructable, i will be sure to post more.

This might solve my problem. I can't find a watch band that over time won't stink like bigfoot. My lady is constantly telling me how bad it is. From her and me, thanks!

A good use for all those yellow bands that are being thrown out after last week's 60 Minutes on Lance. : )
