The Pi Buggy

Introduction: The Pi Buggy

About: We are a technology company and love to create lots of new projects!

This was our very first project. In this project we created a buggy that is controlled by a raspberry pi. It is a fairly easy project and could be a very good first project for anyone who wants to learn.

For this project you'll need:

-A Raspberry Pi

-A buggy kit

-4x AA batteries

Optional:

-Pi-Cam

-Ultrasonic sensor

Step 1: Soldering the Switch

Firstly, we peeled off the cardboard covering one of the sides to reveal this black plastic. Then we soldered the switch to the battery pack leaving two wires to plug into the relay later. Next we screwed on the 360 wheel to the front of the frame.

Step 2: Motors and Camera

You will then need to screw on both of the back motors and slot on the black rubber tyres. If you are using a pi-camera then you'll need to do this, if not, don't worry about it.

Plug in the pi camera's cable and secure it in its case. Then screw it down through some of the holes at the back of the base.

Step 3: Ultrasound and Power!

Next you will need to screw down the battery pack to the centre of the body and then tie the pi down. To use the Ultrasonic sound sensor we will need a bread board. Stick it down with the ultra sonic sound sensor in it. Then wire up the motors and battery pack to the relay and plug it onto the gpio pins of the raspberry pi.

Step 4: Coding!

Congratulations! You have completed the construction of your Raspberry Pi Buggy! Next, follow the instrutions below to code and drive your buggy! If you need any more help just email us at admin@xeiverse.co.uk and we'll be sure to get back to you the same day!
