Introduction: The 'Slatted-Bed-Base'-Swing

This instructable will show you how to make the 'Slatted-Bed-Base'-Swing. I will also show you how to hang it in a tree.

Step 1: How to Make the Slatted Bed Swing

First you take a few Slatted-Base planks.

TIP: Make sure you have a few planks extra, in case you screw up.

Step 2: Mark the Lenght

First you have to mark the slatted base planks in the middle. Do this with a pencil.

Now you have to mark on each side 11.8 inches (30 cm).

The total length of the plank is 23.8 inches (60 cm) long.

Step 3: Cutting and Marking the Drill Holes in the Slatted Base Planks

When you've finished cutting the slatted base planks, you have to mark the borders 1.2 inches (3 cm) on both sides.

Later on you will have to mark the center at the end of each stripe (at the end of each plank).

Step 4: Drilling the Holes

To drill the holes we use a M7 (0.3inch , 0.7cm) drill head.

Drill two holes on each side of each plank.

Step 5: Pulling the Rope Through the Holes

You will need a rope with a diameter of 0.25 inch (6 mm).

Pull the rope underneath each plank.

!Make sure you have +/- 9.8 inch (25 cm) extra rope on each side.!

Step 6: Mounting the Clamps

Mount the clamps on each side of each plank to prevent the planks of moving.

Put heat shrinking tubes on each end of the clamps to prevent potential accidents.

Step 7: Placing Galvanized Stockings With Countersunk Clamps.

Pull the rope around the metal loop and attach the two ropes between the clamps.

Do this for each plank on both sides.

Step 8: Ensure That the Settings of the Swing Are Correct

Make sure that the tension of each clip is at the same height. Now you are sure that the swing will work properly.

Use the images as foundation.

Step 9: Preparing the Ropes + Materials

You will need two rope clamps, four carabin hooks and ofcourse two ropes (each +/- 8m).

Step 10: How to Attach Cable Clamps + How to Make a Rope Knot

In the pictures above you can see how to make the knot.

Make sure that you do this on eacht side of the two ropes.

On one side you will need to mount the rope clamps, on the other side you will just need a loop.

After you've finished doing all this stuff, it is time to go outside and finally test the swing.

Step 11: How to Hang the Swing in a Tree

This video will show you how to hang the swing in a tree.
