Easter is approaching and people all over the world start getting ready for it. Easter is often associated with the advent of spring and the beginning of new life, although, the holiday is celebrated differently in various countries. Each nation has its own traditions and customs associated with Easter, but there is still one tradition that stands out from the crowd because of its essence. The tradition I’m talking about is painting Easter eggs. Children and adults like it a lot and there are lots of recipes you can find nowadays to give the painted Easter eggs original and unique look. I’ve collected the best recipes in this post and I personally tested each of them on practice. This is what I’ve got.

Step 1: Decoupage

Supplies:

Eggs
Transparent glue or gelatin
Paper napkins with different pictures
Scissors
Painting brush
High-temperature box

Take a multi-layer paper napkin and separate the layers first. Cut out the pictures you like, but make sure they differ from each other. This is needed to create a composition. Attach the pictures you’ve cut out to the egg and attach it using transparent glue or gelatin. As soon as your Easter egg dried out, it is ready!

Step 2: Marble Eggs

Supplies:

Multi-colored food dyes
Eggs
Oil Tins to dissolve the dyes
Fork

Dye the eggs into light colors first and let them dry out well. Then dissolve more intense dyes in the tins and add 1 spoon of oil into each of them. Carefully mix the dyes, but don’t stir them. This will let the oil separate into smaller oil spots. Put the eggs into the tins for a few seconds and immediately take them away. Enjoy the fantastic marble effect!

Step 3: Painting the Eggs Using a Piece of Cloth

To paint the eggs using this recipe, you may use silk neckties, сhiffon or satin.

Supplies

Pieces of cloth (like those mentioned above)
Eggs
Vinegar

Wrap the raw eggs into a piece of cloth so that the pattern would be attached to the egg surface. Saw the ends of the cloth well. Add 3 tablespoons of vinegar into water and put the eggs into it. Boil the eggs for about 10-12 minutes and take the pot from fire. Pour cold water instead. As soon as the eggs cool down, unwrap them and watch the result. This is what I’ve got!

Step 4: Scotch Tape Patterns

As far as it’s not convenient to use a ruler to draw the lines on the eggs, it makes sense to use Scotch tape. To make such a pattern, you will need the following supplies:

Eggs
Multi-colored food dyes
Scotch tape
Stationery knife

Dye the eggs into light colors. Attach 2-3 strips of Scotch tape around 3 mm from each other. Choose any width you need for the pattern and cut the lines. Put the eggs into the dyes for a couple of minutes. Then wait until it dries out and remove the Scotch tape. The result will be unexpected, believe me!

Step 5: Eggs With a Lace Pattern

You can use leaves of fennel or parsley, if you do not have lace at hand. Other supplies you will require include:
Boiled eggs

Capron pieces
Threads lace napkins
Scissors
Plastic cups to dissolve food dyes

Cut out any lace patterns you like. Put each piece into water and attach it to the boiled eggs. Wrap the eggs into pieces of capron and use the threads to fix the ends. Put an egg wrapped in the cloth into the food dyes for a few seconds. Then take them away and carefully remove the cloth. Wait until the eggs dry out.

Step 6: Wax Crayons

Supplies:

Boiled eggs
Wax crayons
Food dyes

This is, probably, one of the simplest recipes of painting the eggs for Easter. Take wax crayons (color doesn’t matter here) and paint any pattern you like on the boiled eggs. Having done that, put each egg into a food dye for a couple of minutes. The egg will become colorful and the patterns will get brighter, contrasting with a basic color.

Step 7: Handcrafted Easter Eggs

This variant appeals both to kids and adults. It makes it possible to attract the attention of the whole family and encourage everyone to join the process. As to the supplies, you will need:

Boiled eggs
Yellow food dye
Red paper
Pencil
Gelatin or glue

Paint the boiled eggs yellow and leave them to dry out well. To make a cock or a hen, just cut out a crest and a beak out of red paper and attach the elements to an egg as shown on the photo. You can use gelatin or glue to do that. Draw the eyes with a pencil and enjoy the result!
