Introduction: Toy Boxes
Pair of toy boxes built from pallets for a friend in need with small children. Repurposed wood using only hand tools. Miter saw. Drill, angle grinder and reciprocating saw.
Step 1: Aquire, Disassembled and Cut
Pallets, easy to acquire and simple to dismantle. I personally use a reciprocating saw with a wood with nail embedded rated blade. Most of the pallets I had were almost 4 foot across yielding a 3 foot by 2' box. Additionally, I use a angle grinder with a flap disk with 60 or 80 grit sandpaper to smooth it all out. To attach it all together, I utilized a combination of self tapping and self countersinking screws of 1 and 1/4 to 2 and 1/2.
Step 2: Assemble and Stain
After making 4 same sized panels and 2 same sized panels I sand them all with the Angle grinder then stain. I doubled the panels for two boxes. For this project I used a red mahogany. When the stain was dry I assembled the panels with a drill and screws.
