Step 1: The Button Closure

Use string to tie a button to the bottom half of the basket.

Take 9 pieces of string, divide into 3 sections and braid each section.

Braid the 3 braids together and tie this to the lid of the basket in the shape of a loop.

Step 2: The Strap

Sew the strap to either side of the basket (I used an old belt as a strap).

Step 3: The Lining

Cut out a circle for each side of the basket and cut out a shape as shown in the picture.

Hem the straight edges of this shape.

Pin the circles onto this fabric and sew them on.

Hem the remaining raw edges of the circle.

Step 4: Attaching the Lining

Sew one of the circles onto the inside of the basket using a running stitch.

Step 5: The Hinge

Use string to create a hinge between the bottom and lid of the basket.

Step 6: Finishing It Off

Sew the other side of the lining to the basket.

Step 7: Wear Your UPCYCLED Bag With Pride!

That is adorable! I'll have to keep an eye out for a suitable basket. Great job!

This looks great! Like it was meant to be a purse all along :) I also love that the hinge is nice and simple.
