This video explains how to convert your Remington portable typewriter into a fully functional computer keyboard, or into a nifty dock for your iPad or tablet, using the USB Typewriter Conversion Kit.  This conversion will work on all portable Remington typewriters that have circle-shaped keys, except for the Remington "Noiseless." Unfortunately, it won't work with Remingtons that have square plastic keys, such as the Quiet Riter -- but I have created a separate kit for that model.  For more information, please visit www.usbtypewriter.com

Question 1 year ago on Introduction

    Hi Jack,

I hav one of the versions that needs me to put tape to the sensor. What side of the sensor does the tape go on? Oh and I didn't receive the bracket either. I have something that will work.

    Thank you,

    Steve

Hi, I'm having trouble aligning the sensor circuitry with the crossbar keys (step 3) - the keys and the contacts are not spaced equally which causes some of the keys to touch more than one contact. Is that a known problem? The typewriter I'm using is a Remington Portable. cheers

Did you manage? I seem to have the same problem so was wondering if you managed to make it work.
