Introduction: Ultimate Electric Motorcycle - Safest Fastest Ebike

About: I am an artist, cyclist, engineer, yogi, and coffee snob

In this guide you will learn how to construct the ultimate electric motorcycle. Nothing makes me feel like flying free than riding this thing. The zero to 30 MPH game is very strong because of the electric motor. It is perfect for city travel. Use it to make a few deliveries and it pays for itself. Never pay for gas again.

This is the safest fastest ebike.
I selected the hydraulic disc brakes and full suspension frame for maximum safety. Cruise over potholes or anything the city can throw at you. Other cars will see you with these brilliant lights. For one corona check you can make a monster electric motorcycle.

Step 1: Step 1: the Charger

Step 1: The Charger
Strip charger DC wires, tin ends, and add heat shrink (Apply thin heat shrink to each wire, and thick heat shrink to the bundle) Solder XT-60 to charger wires - Plug directly into battery and test voltages, then apply heat shrink and heat. Should read ~33v-42v Charge battery to 42.2v (max) or 38.8v (for storage) *** I used common swag tron batteries and 42.2v 2a chargers. You can use any voltage batteries for this setup, but 36v are the most common so they are typically the best bang for your buck. The more in parallel, the longer the bike will travel. The more batteries you plan to use, the more chargers you will need. Do not overcharge, or lithium ion batteries will explode like grenades burn down your workshop.

Step 2: Step 2: Assemble 36v Harness

Step 2: Assemble 36v harness
-XT60 2-1 adapters -Take one of the 2-1 converters and attach it to batteries to get them into parallel configuration.

-XT60 wires CC-CV circuit strip wire and attach each end of a xt-60 Wire as many batteries up and as many out puts as you like. I went with 4 female and 4 male, each of my females attached to a 2-1 adapter for a total of 8 batteries. You want your inputs to be female and outputs to be male (like the battery output) One goes to the power transmission, 1 goes to my lights, and I left 2 for charging and adding a phone charger later.

Step 3: Step 3 Laswell Transmission.

This is the part that is going to get you going. This is what can take your 32v batteries to 72v, 48v, or whatever. I like 60-67 volts for a decent speed. In some areas you may not want to exceed 20 mph for legal reasons.

- Energize the transmission via battery. Plug into a single battery or the array you made in the previous step. Test by setting voltage to 52 and turning amps up all the way. We will test and configure the transmission this more in the next few steps.
- Probe the voltage at the outputs

I use a two wire voltmeter 3-120v that is green to match my bike scheme. It looks cool and shows the voltage while driving you can run some wires to place voltmeter directly on the handset.

- Attach CC-CV DC transmission to the motor controller, and plug in the display. (motor controller silver box in fig 3-2* Fig 3-2 *note: a xt-60 connector may need to be retrofitted to the motor controller if it is not already installed. Most motor kits do not come with xt-60 connectors, but some cheap connectors instead. I like xt-60 connectors because they are hearty and my batteries came with them. Also they are strong for the price.

- Check to see if the battery metrics is registering full. - Adjust the voltage on the power transmission by turning the voltage control potentiometers until the battery metric is registering halfway and note that voltage. Then adjust voltage to your desire. Higher voltage means higher speeds. ** **Note: if the battery is still reading full as you lower it to ~32 volts, then the motor controller is in 36v and needs to be configured to 48v mode for maximum mosfet performance ensure it is in this mode.

- Holding the up and down arrows on the sw900, will put the computer in configure mode.
If you google sw900 you can see videos explaining all of these parameters. the enter key will take you to the next parameter, and up and down arrows will change the settings. I set mine to 60v maximum current output, 35mph speed limit, and 29" wheel size.
- Return to the transmission and adjust the current to maximum by rotating it ~50 turns clockwise. Adjust voltage to your desire. Note the voltage will drop while the throttle is engaged, so go for a few test drives and repeat this step as needed.

Step 4: Step 4: Preparing the Bike.

Step 4: Preparing the bike. Tools: crankshaft remover tool, spanner, tape, plastic coverings or bag - Remove wheels, pedals if already attached. - Remove crankshaft with crankshaft tool and spanner - Tape spring shock - Tape any wire you want to preserve black - Remove seat if attached or cover. - Remove or cover handlebars - Tape and cover disk break assembly. *** IMPORTANT NOTE*** Any moving parts need to be left unpainted and covered or they will get goupy and unresponsive like sticky keyboard. - Cover and tape break cables, or remove headset with tool, and cover break cables. - Sand with heavy grit paper or cloth - In your paint staging area: Spray paint bike 1 foot away very feather light coats. I apply Apply at least 2 white coats and 4 color coats, allowing drying between coats. Follow normal safe painting procedures. Apply finishing coats as desired. For my paint, the vinyl is thick and will peel off eventually very clean. Protects against scuffs if thicker coats.. - Apply gloss layers optionally - Bike can dry. Flip bike upside down is good way to paint both sides at once. I was going to paint my whole bike white, but i went with black and white with green panels to match my lights. Take the most creative freedoms with the colours of your bike at this time, once you construct it, it will be a pain to paint later.

Step 5: Step 5: Finish Him.

Step 5: Finish Him! Assembly - Attach rear wheel of ebike to bike - Fit disk break carefully Tighten losely - Wrap cables - Zip tie only once - Attach to motor controller and test with bike upsidedown Zovvvomzrrrrvvrrroom.drago doesnt like it.lmfao - Install bike components again - Tighten motor aquarterturnatatime - Adjust disk breaks as needed - Adjust seat - Attach batteries along upper frame. - Attach transmission a few inches behind batteries. - Attach motor controller in center bottom. - Attach P.A.S. system magnet and sensor to crankshaft and install crankshaft - Install petals - Install instruments to handset - Tighten headset (reattach if necessary) - Zip tie wires - Spot Spray paint wires as needed - Untape everything

Step 6: Step 6: Victory Lap

Step 6: Victory Lap Add optional components. Test horn if added Test light if added Test alarm Install lock Install swag lights Install mirrors optionally painting them first if desired Install fenders, taillights etc. Install paneers / racks as desired. Install additional bells, whistles, Etc.etc. I first had cardboard, but then i upgraded to some acrylic panels to guard my electronics.

Step 7: Step 7: Celebration

Step 7: Celebration Drink to celebrate your accomplishments. Name your new creation. Make sure you get a lock. The alarm is fun, but nothing beats a ulock. Waterproof Cases for electronics Tape sand papers for painting Reuse packaging plastic and cardboard for painting, or bring high end painting tools if you are into it.k Include Extra zip ties Horn & alarm Bluetooth boombox if you choose to paint motor or change free wheel Hydraulic disk break tools probably-take to a mechanic to bleed and fill breaks. Clean up your mess, recycle cardboard and plastic if you are finished painting. This thing is really fast. Please don't die. Wear helmet knee pads leather jacket etc. this is a MOTOR cycle "e-bike". Ask some friends with motorcycle license for pointers. make sure every bolt is tight before hitting the road hard. You can petal home if your batteries don't last as long as expected. You will burn through batteries soaring down the road at high voltage. You will go forever on minimal battery with the petal assist system. I like to petal a little and give it some throttle as well.
