Ultimate Colored Smoke Bomb

Ingredients Needed:
Potassium Nitrate (Salt Peter)
Sugar
Baking Soda
Organic Powdered Dye

Step 1: Equipment Needed:

Stove/Range or other heat source
Small Pan
Spoon
Small Cardboard Tube
Cotton
Firework fuse
Duct tape or masking tape

Step 2: Step 2

Mix 60g potassium nitrate and 40g sugar in small pan over stove burner on low heat.
Stir the mixture.
Sugar will start to carmelize.
Keep stirring until mixture looks like peanut butter.
Add one tablespoon of baking soda to the mixture. This is to slow combustion.
Add three heaping tablespoons of dye. Any color will due, but orange and blue work the best.
Mix thoroughly.
Fill a cardboard tube (this can be a small tube from candy, or one made smaller from a toilet paper or paper towel tube) with the mix.
Push a thick pen into the center of the mix.
Let sit for one hour.

Step 3: Done Waiting, Almost the End

After the tube and mixture has sat for one hour, remove the pen.
Insert the firework fuse into the hole in the middle of the mixture.
Insert cotton into the hole to secure the firework fuse.
Wrap the entire tube with tape leaving the small hole where the fuse is.
Whenever ready, take the color smoke bomb outside and light the fuse with a lighter.
