Introduction: Valentines Day- Secret Message in an Egg

About: When I was six, my parents bought me a marble contraption set, and I have been building stuff since! I love to tinker, mess with, and just build stuff in my free time!

Have you ever wanted to have a clever way to say happy Valentines Day rather than just a boring old, "Happy Valentines Day." Well now you can!! In just a few short simple steps, you can make a message in an egg for someone special! All you do to receive the message is crack the egg! It's that simple! Thanks for reading!

Step 1: Gather Your Materials

You will need:

-One egg

-A device to make a small hole (I used a mini screw driver)

-A small piece of paper

-A writing utensil

-And decorating/painting materials (I used fine tip sharpies)

Step 2: Perforating (Making a Hole), Then Emptying

First, grab your egg. Make a small enough hole to empty the contents of the egg, but make sure the note will not slip out. (You can look at the image above for a reference.) Then, empty the contents of the egg through the hole, and wash out the egg and let it dry.

Step 3: Decorating!

Ok, now this is the fun part! Lay/hang your egg somewhere where you can decorate the egg, and start decorating! You can choose whatever you want to decorate or paint on the egg, be creative! I used an assortment of fine tip sharpies. Let the paint dry (if you used any), then write, "crack me" on the side with a writing utensil, preferably a fine tip sharpie.

Step 4: Your Note

Make a note on the piece of paper, and decorate it. Then, roll it up very tightly, and insert it into the hole you made in the top of the egg! Finally, give the egg to someone!! Thanks for reading, commenting, favoriting, and voting!

You may like to try the 16th century method developed by the Italian scholar & cryptographer, Giambattista della Porta -

"Della Porta invented a method which allowed him to write secret messages
on the inside of eggs. During the Spanish Inquisition, some of his
friends were imprisoned. At the gate of the prison, everything was
checked except for eggs. Della Porta wrote messages on the egg shell
using a mixture made of plant pigments and alum. The ink penetrated the
egg shell which is semi-porous. When the egg shell was dry, he boiled
the egg in hot water and the ink on the outside of the egg was washed
away. When the recipient in prison peeled off the shell, the message was
revealed once again on the egg white."
